February MEGA Newsletter! 💌
Get ready, friends!
Lots of exciting things to cover in today's newsletter - YAY! We're almost two months out from the release of LOVE FROM SCRATCH (the two month mark is actually Saturday, but what kind of monster would send a newsletter on a Saturday?) and I have so much to tell y'all about. So let's get to it!
Writing Stuff
Pre-Order Campaign!
You know how I've basically been standing at your bedside with a megaphone, waking you up by yelling "PLEASE PRE-ORDER MY BOOK!" every morning of your life for the past seven-ish months? You're right, that hasn't been happening, but it is meant to demonstrate that there are many ways I could be more annoying about begging for pre-orders. Anyhoo, there's finally something in it for you (in addition to a fun book to read come April 5th)!!!
If you've pre-ordered my book from any retailer and/or requested it from your local library, I want to send you a signed bookplate and fun stickers! All you have to do is fill out this form, in which you'll upload a screenshot or photo of your pre-order receipt or library request. Then sometime in the next couple months, likely closer to publication, I'll mail you the treats pictured below!
The stickers are vinyl, waterproof, representative of parts of Love from Scratch, and in my humble opinion, very very cute. The bookplate (white with red hearts in the corners) is like a little label that I'll sign (and personalize if you so wish!) and you can stick it on your book's title page to have your own ~autographed copy~.
The campaign is open internationally and while supplies last, so get those receipts in ASAP :)
Signed Copies!
You might be thinking, "But Kaitlyn, I don't want you to sign a bookplate to go in the front of my book. I want your beautiful handwriting directly on the page!" Great news, buddy. You can now pre-order signed copies through my signing page on Joseph-Beth Booksellers' website! If you order a signed copy from Joseph-Beth, be sure to also submit proof of purchase to the pre-order campaign form in order to get your stickers. You don't necessarily need a signed bookplate in that case (and there's a check box in the form to opt out), but if you still want a bookplate to wear on your shirt or forehead, that is acceptable too. Yay signed books!
Wait...does this signing page mean what I think it means?
If you think it means I'm having an in-person discussion and signing of Love from Scratch on April 5th at 7p.m., then YES! I could not think of a better way to celebrate this book baby making its way into the world on release day. I'm so excited to have this event arranged with my local independent bookstore, and will be so thrilled to see folks there! The event info can be found here, and I'll definitely be talking about it more here as it approaches.
Here we see a young bookseller at Joseph-Beth circa 2018, after declaring herself award winner of "Best Young Adult of 2018." Look at her now! :')
I told you there was a lot of news to cover today, right? Thoughts and prayers as I try to smoothly announce all of this on various social media platforms tomorrow. But really, things are happeninggg and it's weird and stressful and exciting and incredible. Just this week, I also got to listen to narrator samples for the Love from Scratch audiobook and gosh, it's one of the coolest parts of the process yet. Hearing a professional narrate these words I wrote makes them feel more removed from me somehow? I was listening to all these talented people read the same segment of chapter one going "ha this is some good stuff who wrote this ha ha" (like a woman not half-losing her mind, of course). I do most of my reading with audio and I just couldn't be more excited to hear the full book come to life!
Miscellaneous Stuff
Other things occupying the mind of Kaitlyn:
Still reading books over here because I can't not read books, but holding off on reading recs this month for the sake of brevity ("too late!" they cry...)
The Gilded Age on HBO - ooooh ho ho this show is giving major Downton Abbey vibes already, so I'm obsessed. Christine Baranski is the American version of Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess and Cynthia Nixon is an eccentric spinster aunt and there are hot men in period clothing. Sold!
I don't know, just feeling very grateful a lot of the time for a lot of wonderful people who make this whole dreams-coming-true experience extra sweet and beautiful! If you're reading this newsletter, I'm probably talking about YOU.
Also sleep. I think about sleep a lot.
Thanks for reading, go forth and claim your stickers and/or signed books, etc etc, did this email have enough exclamation points for you, if not here's some more!!!!!
xoxo,
Kaitlyn
