March Newsletter! 🍀
Hello, my friends!
Hope your Monday is treating you well! I am coming off of a super relaxing bachelorette weekend in the mountains and feeling the luv from my sister and friends who made it so special. Couldn't think of a better way to ring in the final month befooore...book release!!! (Wedding also forthcoming, but a month later.) That's right - LOVE FROM SCRATCH will be out in the world in exactly 29 days. Depending on which second/minute/hour/day you catch me in, I am alternately super calm and ready, and losing my ever-loving mind. So fun! Let's continue on this emotional roller coaster together.
Writing Stuff
Pre-orders make the world go 'round
Thank you so so much to all who have pre-ordered my pretty book baby so far!! You've made me feel so lucky and grateful. If you haven't had a chance yet, there's still time to order from any retailer today!
If you have pre-ordered Love from Scratch and/or requested it from your local library, don't forget to submit your form to receive a signed bookplate and stickers!
The stickers are vinyl, waterproof, representative of parts of Love from Scratch, and will look great on your laptop/water bottle/dog/face. The bookplate (white with red hearts in the corners) is a little label that I'll sign (and personalize if you so wish!) and you can stick it on your book's title page to have your own ~autographed copy~.
The campaign is open internationally and while supplies last :)
super cute bookplate! super cute stickers! super cute Love from Scratch!!!
Book signing & pre-order a signed copy!
If you're in the Lexington, KY, area, I'd love to see you at my in-person launch event for Love from Scratch on April 5th at 7p.m.! I'll be discussing and signing LFS at Joseph-Beth Lexington. I'm so, so excited to have friends and family and hopefully some new readers there to celebrate with me on publication day! The event info can be found here, and if you can't make it but still want a signed copy shipped to you, you can order through the event page!
I also have a couple of virtual events in the works, more casual(/chaotic) in nature, that I'll tell you about when the details are finalized! It's allll happeningggg.
The last few newsletters I've written, I've felt inclined to get all sappy and word vomit about my feelings approaching the release of my debut, but then I'm either too tired to do so or think, "wah u poor thing, life is so hard when ur dreams are coming true :( NO ONE CARES!!" My inner monologue is really kind and generous to me. But in short, it's been a massive learning experience and my ability to handle the challenges varies by the day. There's a lot that authors can't control in traditional publishing (some argue the literal only thing the author can control is their writing) and that's tough for me, a control freak who wants to do anything in my power to make my book succeed. So I'm just doing my best to soak in every bit of this weird whirlwind, appreciate the good things as they come, not dwell on the bad, and have as much fun with it all as I can! And at the end of the day, I'm so fortunate to have such incredible people in my corner cheering me on through everything.
Reading Stuff
Book recommendations!! Featuring some of my fellow '22 debuts!
LULU AND MILAGRO'S SEARCH FOR CLARITY by Angela Velez - a super fun and relatable YA story of two sisters with very different personalities finding their way back to each other while on a college visit road trip. I am such a Lulu it isn't funny. But this book is!! Check it out here.
A BRUSH WITH LOVE by Mazey Eddings - an adult romance between two dental school students that even the biggest dentist haters (hello) will love! Harper is an anxious girl after my own heart and Dan is gone for her on day one and I absolutely adore this sweet book! Get your copy here!
THIS MAY END BADLY by Samantha Markum - okay, the first YA series I remember getting truly obsessed with was the Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter. This debut has none of GG's spy activity (lol), but all of the badass girls boarding school dynamics and fun rivalry with their boys boarding school counterparts. I can hardly put it down!! It comes out a week after LFS and I'll probably reread my copy to comfort myself in the aftermath of debut week chaos :') Find it here!
