July Newsletter + COVER REVEAL! 📚
I'm baaaaack!
And I've missed you dearly! What a whirlwind the past month and a half has been. Excited to catch you up on some of it today!
First, BOOK TWO!
I know, I know, you're like, "Kaitlyn, Love from Scratch only came out like 2 seconds ago??" Which is fair as it's only been two months, but the publishing wheel keeps on turning! So I'm excited to share with you (again, if you've looked at any of my social media in the last 24 hours) the cover of my sophomore YA romance novel, NOT HERE TO STAY FRIENDS!
I'm in love with this cover, illustrated by Monique Aimee and designed by Regina Flath. It couldn't fit the book any more perfectly! I love how much of a story it tells with just the characters, positions, expressions...eep!
Here's the book's synopsis:
This friends-to-lovers spin on The Bachelor follows two childhood besties reuniting to spend the summer in L.A. after five years apart—but when they both get involved with a teen reality dating show, their lives take an unexpected turn for the unreal.
Sloane McKinney feels like a background character in her own life. But this summer will be different, because she’s spending it with her childhood best friend, Liam Daniels, in her dream city, Los Angeles. Sure, she’s surprised to find that Liam just happens to have had a Hot Guy glow-up since she last saw him, but so what? A little attraction won’t ruin her plans for their fun—and completely platonic—reunion.
What might, however, is that Liam has been roped into working for his producer dad’s new teen reality dating show, Aspen Woods’s Future Leading Lady. Liam figures Sloane can still hang out with him on set while he fetches coffee for the film crew, or whatever it is that production assistants do. Except it turns out the show is one contestant short . . . and Sloane is the perfect last-minute addition.
Once cameras are rolling, the whirlwind of dating teen heartthrob Aspen Woods feels way more real than Sloane expected, and Liam doesn’t exactly enjoy watching it all unfold. But it’s behind the scenes where the drama really picks up. . . .
Because wanting to kiss your best friend? That’s a plot twist neither Sloane nor Liam ever saw coming.
...coming 4/4/23! OoOoOh who's excited?? I AM! Another cool thing about this book is that it's being released in paperback first, so it'll be even more affordable to readers at $12.99. Even better for all of you who want to buy twelve copies for all of your closest friends, too, right? Yay! As you remember me harping on with Love from Scratch, pre-orders are so helpful to authors as they show the publisher, bookstores, etc. that people are excited about a book! So I would really appreciate it if you considered pre-ordering before release in the spring. :)
Also, that other book!
Remember our little pink fav, Love from Scratch? She's still thriving on bookstore shelves everywhere, and it still makes me so happy and honored every time I hear from another reader who's finished the book and has lovely things to say. I'm beyond grateful that this book has been received so well by both friends and family close by, and by people all over the world who I'll never meet. Thank you for giving my debut a chance!
If you haven't gotten your hands on a copy yet (or if you want a bonus copy for displaying on your fireplace mantle, idk, you do you!), there are some great SALES happening right now:
At Barnes & Noble - buy 1 get 1 50% off on all hardcovers in store! 15% off online orders with code 15offsale (ending tomorrow)! Find Love from Scratch at B&N here.
Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores nationwide, has free shipping today and tomorrow! And the hardcover is slightly on sale there for $16.73 for unclear reasons, but I'm not complaining! Find Love from Scratch on Bookshop here.
You can also now pre-order the PAPERBACK of LFS, coming out on Valentine's Day! What a perfect gift for your sweetheart, right?
Here you can see me holding a signed copy of LFS at my local indie, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, and my family wearing their matching LFS shirts on vacation with varying degrees of enthusiasm!
Personal life updates!
As you may or may not know depending how new you are around here or how much you pay attention to my internet-oversharing self, I've been out-of-office the last little bit because I got maaarried! And went on a honeymoon! Then got covid lol. But before that last part, it was all amazing. Brand New Mr. KHill and I had the sweetest wedding weekend we could've dreamed up and couldn't believe our luck at having such wonderful friends and family, near and far, who made us feel so celebrated. Then we set off for the Azores, which is probably the prettiest place either of us has ever been and we will gladly talk anyone's ear off about it to convince you to go there! Anyway, it's all been happy happy happy, even while we spent the week after the honeymoon feeling physically like roadkill. Here are a few of the highlights~
Whew, I'm tired. Are you tired?
That's probably enough for one mid-month newsletter. I hope you like the NHTSF cover (that abbreviation is a mouthful) and get to take advantage of some book sales! More importantly, I hope you're having a great summer and reading something good! Thank you so much for subscribing, sticking around, and supporting all my writing dreamz - sending you a virtual hug riiiight now, did you feel it?
^me revealing my reality show book cover the same day as the premiere of The Bachelorette. I just want Gabby and Rachel to find love and happiness!!!
xoxo,
Kaitlyn
