Hello lovely people! Not to be extremely boring by talking about the passage of time right out of the gate, but how on e a r t h is it already June?! Nuts! I hope, if youâre in my hemisphere, that the warmer weather is treating you well, and oh no, now Iâm talking about weather, quick letâs move it along before everyone falls asleep.
Maaajor sale on the Love from Scratch ebook!
Very very excited to start off by sharing that my first book, Love from Scratch, is a Kindle Daily Deal on sale for only $1.99!!! You can find it HERE! Ebook fans, run donât walk, etc etc! This price will only last for today, 6/1, and itâs the first time the ebook has ever been on sale. As a gal who has snagged a lot of Kindle Daily Deals in her time, I love to see it! If you donât have a Kindle, you can also download the Kindle app on any device1 and send your copy there đ
(and pssst if you get your ebooks somewhere else, I believe the price should be matched on most platforms for today, but donât hold me to that đ¤)
Not to be left out, Not Here to Stay Friends
âŚhas been in the world for almost two months!

Iâve so enjoyed seeing this weird, DrAmAaA and romance-filled little book find its readers đ If you havenât picked up your copy yet, what better time than while youâre already snagging that sweet sweet $1.99 LFS ebook?? NO better time, youâre so right!
One completely wild part of NHTSFâs short life is that itâs already in its third printing! This still boggles my mind and itâs in no small part thanks to YOU people for being so kind to my book and me and spreading the word about it. So thank yooouuuuu as always! On the topic of spreading the wordâ
Great segue, Kaitlyn!
Thanks, I thought so!2 If youâve read and enjoyed (or not lol) my booksâespecially NHTSF, as itâs the newest!âI have a favor to ask. Picture me making the most pitiful puppy dog eyes that you canât say no to as I make this humble request đĽşđĽşđĽş It would mean so much to me if youâd consider leaving a rating and/or review of my book(s) on a retail site! Ratings/reviews, however short and sweet (or not lol) you want to keep them, are a huge help in getting books to new readers3, therefore selling more books, therefore keeping food on Kaitlynâs proverbial table. A few major retailers where you could rate and review Not Here to Stay Friends, conveniently linked for you here, are:
âŚor anywhere else you shop for books! If youâre feeling REALLY generous, I certainly wonât stop you from rating and reviewing Love from Scratch, too. But there are only so many hours in a day and youâre already my favorite for doing the first favor, so no! pressure! at all!!!4
Other writing-adjacent things!
Next week, you can listen to the episode of the Sh*t She Read podcast (a.k.a. SSR) on which Iâm the guest! I super enjoy this podcast as a listener and had the best time talking with the host, Alli. She has all her guests choose a âthrowbackâ book from their childhood/adolescence and they reread then discuss it on the show. From the options she provided, I picked Bloomability by Sharon Creech! I read so many Sharon Creech books in elementary school, but somehow donât think I ever made it to this one until now. Spoiler alertâI loved it!! But you can hear Alli and I dig in deeper when the episode drops on June 6th on the SSR site and wherever you listen to podcasts!
Iâm excited to participate again in the Romance for Reproductive Justice Auction hosted by Meet Cute Bookshop! R4RJ is raising money for the National Network of Abortion Funds' Collective Power Fund, a cause I feel strongly about, and I have signed and personalized copies of Love from Scratch and Not Here to Stay Friends ready and waiting for the highest bidder! Bidding will take place on June 10th and 11thâyouâll see reminders on my social media, but follow @meetcutebookshop on instagram and peruse the rest of the auction listings so you donât miss any of the awesome stuff up for grabs!
I have seen a COVER SKETCH for my third5 YA romance Wild About You! Oh my gaaaash, I was not ready, you are not ready, itâs so pretty Iâve been losing my mind! I canât wait to share it with you soon. WAY is also with the copy editor now, and I should get their comments in the next couple weeks! This stage in the process is where I make the super super detailed changes, as pointed out by the copy editorâthings like âat the beginning of the chapter you said it was sunny. Why are they wearing rain jackets?â âthis word does not mean what you think it meansâ (but they say it more politely than that), etc. Thank goodness for copy editors! I would be so bad at their job! Way too much of an attention span required! Anyway, thatâs where we are in the book 3 process, and while I wait/have no impending deadlines, Iâm slowly but surely working on the next booksâcrafting potential pitches for my 4th YA romance and drafting the adult romance that may or may not ever see another pair of eyes đ but Iâm having FUN, which is most important.6

Lest you think Iâm working too hardâŚ
Iâll end on some of the other things Iâve been getting up to (and have coming up) in my post-book-launch, between-deadlines life~
KHGTV marathons! I have been a little home improvement monster this past month, in a series Iâve started calling KHGTV7. I usually document these projects on my instagram stories, which only exist for 24 hours before disappearing into the ether, so blink and you might miss me remodeling my laundry room over two days while my husband is out of town! Or re-staining our porch! Or painting the front door! All of this has been very pleasing in ways that writing isnât necessarilyâseeing immediate results from hard work instead of months in the weeds not knowing if itâll all come together; being satisfyingly sore from physical activity rather than dissatisfyingly sore from sitting in a weird laptop goblin hunch all day; receiving pretty much entirely positive feedback as opposed to âthe color of this door is sooo annoying and she doesnât deserve the love interestââŚbut I digress! Here are some glimpses of my latest prides and joys.

Summer travels!!! Iâm so very excited to tag along for the next couple weeks on Mr. KHillâs work trip to Italy and France đ This is a relatively new/last minute development, and dang does it have me feeling lucky and grateful to have a job and life that allows for adventures like this, and for a partner who works so hard on interesting things that take him cool places. I canât wait to eat all the carbs and explore, and also hopefully spend a decent amount of time writing new words with better views than I get in my home office. This is my first time in mainland Europe (miss u, Azores honeymoon) since pre-pandemic, and the first of two trips weâll take over there this summer! My compression socks and I are ready for these long haul flightsđŚľ
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehenâŚ
Finish that tune! No, Iâm not about to go to Austria, but I am feeling like a sleepy Gretl von Trapp ready to leave the party as I finish up writing this in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The sun has gone to bed and so must I! Thank you so much for reading and for supporting me, as ever. I love you more than baguettes, which I really love a lot, and will think of you fondly while I eat some8 abroad. Until next month, au revoir! Arrivederci! Byyyeeee!
xoxo,
Kaitlyn
I have a Kindle but actually use the Kindle app on my phone waaay more, as I lie in bed each night reading for hours and ruining my eyesight with my phone screen light. It was important to me that you knew this but not important enough to detract from the ebook sale message, so what a great excuse to experiment with FOOTNOTES!
Was anyone else who grew up during the dawn of Segways absolutely shocked to learn about the word âsegueâ and how itâs actually spelled? đââď¸
In case anyone is like âbut how?â - in my pea brain understanding, books with more ratings and reviews typically get bumped up in retail sitesâ ~algorithms~. This means theyâll show up in more searches, or those little ârecommended for youâ and âreaders also enjoyedâ sections, things like that which translate to more sales!
Do the extra exclamation points imply âyes pressureâ? Oops
HA HA HA HOW IS THAT REAL
Making an income with which to sustain myself is also important, so I will need to finish another book at some point
